Mytton Fold Hotel – wedding photographs of Rachelle & Lee’s April wedding

One of the nicest things about being a wedding photographer and doing a good job is that you are sometimes lucky enough to get the opportunity to photograph another wedding within the same family.  It’s happened to me lots of times now, and in this case I’d photographed the wedding of Rachelle’s sister, Talitha and her husband Paul back in 2009.  I’d really enjoyed their wedding and had got on really well with everyone, so I was looking forward to Rachelle & Lee’s wedding enormously.

We’d met about a month before on a very cold March day for the free pre-wedding shoot  and meeting which I offer all clients.  It’s a useful way to check out a venue, firm up and check the wedding details and see how easy (or difficult!!) the bride and groom will be to photograph, and of course, to try and put them at ease!  On this occasion it was my first time taking wedding photographs at Mytton Fold near Blackburn in Lancashire so it was especially useful to have a look round and talk with Rachelle and Lee about what we’d do on the big day itself.

Fast forward a few weeks, and after a few days of very dubious weather forecasts I was really pleased for everyone that the wedding day was mostly dry and even a bit sunny at times early on!  Rachelle and Lee and both their families were great to work with. I especially enjoyed the fun element of their wedding – walking out to Mah-Na Mah-Na by the Muppets, having a fantastic Muppet cupcake wedding cake, Muppet masks during speeches and even human sized Muppet cut outs on the dancefloor – ace:)  It was a great wedding which everyone enjoyed and hopefully you can see that in the photographs that follow.

My thanks as always to the couple for booking me and just being so great to work with, their families for their patience and kind words to me (much appreciated) and guests for not getting into my shots too much (you know who you were, dancefloor interloper!!).

As a quick aside please know that Rachelle makes bridal shoes beautifully bejewelled and blingy for weddings, so if you fancy getting married in some extra special footwear, you can contact me and I’ll pass your details to her:)

Carla & Kenny’s Wedding Photographs from the Doubletree by Hilton, Chester

I met Carla and Kenny for a pre wedding shoot at the Doubletree by Hilton in Chester on a beautifully sunny Sunday in May. Obviously it had rained pretty much non stop since the heat wave at the end of March but we were pretty hopeful that things had changed… Certainly we had a lovely day for our pre wedding photo shoot (which I offer as a freebie for all weddings) and as we walked around the hotel grounds in between me taking photographs Carla & Kenny told me of their plans to have the ceremony outside, and maybe a bbq in the evening. It sounded great, and I was excited as I haven’t ever shot an outdoor wedding ceremony.

Fast foward a couple of weeks and the forecast for the big day wasn’t good. I was hopeful we’d get some dry spells at least but unfortunately the rain gods had thrown their toys miles out of the pram and it torrented down all day without any let up at all.  Man plans and fate laughs, right? It certainly seemed that way! I guess we all had to improvise a little as this wasn’t in the script we’d gone through, but luckily, despite being forced to stay indoors, I think we managed to get some great photos and Carla and Kenny had an amazing day.

The bride, of course, looked beautiful and wore a stunning dress from Aristocrats of Chester Ltd and Kenny, in a suit by Greenwoods, on cue, got a bit emotional as she walked down the aisle. Inevitably they both relaxed after the ceremony I was able to get some stunning shots of them both.

Cake – by Cake, Chester

Flowers – by Jasmine Designer Florist

The wedding gallery has already been online for some time, so if you haven’t already been given access by the bride or groom, please just ask them!

Guests and friends – please do feel free to leave comments below so the bride and groom can see what you think about their fab day.

As per usual my selection of photos from the day follows…

Wedding Photography at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Blackburn / Kerri & Michael’s Wedding

May 2012 saw pretty much everyone dodging heavy rain all month, that is, everyone except for Kerri & Michael on their wedding day. They had gorgeous weather!! It was sunny almost all day (except during the wedding breakfast) and in the evening there was some gorgeous light that I used to take some backlit photographs of the happy couple.

Their gallery has been online for a few weeks. You can view photos here.

Overall it was a really great day.  More details about the wedding will follow, but for now, here are some photographs:

Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel wedding photographs / Emily and Simon’s Wedding

Back in mid-May I shot the wedding of Emily & Simon at Kilhey Court Hotel & Spa near Standish. Despite this being one of the nearest venues to me it was the first time in 7 years of shooting weddings professionally that I’d worked there. Kilhey Court is a pretty big venue, with a mix of Victorian and modern buildings and has large gardens for photographers (and even guests!) to use.  Unfortunately it had rained almost all May so everywhere was pretty saturated, which reduced our photography options a little.

Emily and Simon were both up for anything on the day and big thanks to them for trudging over wet grass and believing when I said “It’ll be a great photos, just trust me;)”.

Their gallery has been online for about 6 weeks, but if you haven’t already you can view photos here.

A small selection, picked as normal by me alone, follows;)
